At the 3rd Annual Airline Chief Digital and Innovation Officer Summit in Shanghai, China, Comtrade Digital Services’ Mobility & Travel team won the Best Innovation Award for Adnexa – its innovative advertising platform. On Tuesday, 4th December, validating many months of intense R&D, Marko Javornik, VP/GM of Mobility & Travel at Comtrade, accepted the award on behalf of the team.
Focused on the digital transformation of airlines, this two-day annual event is organised by the Shanghai Society of Aeronautics (SSA) and China Eastern Airlines. Featuring more than thirty prominent local and international speakers form the air travel industry, as well as inspiring discussions, the Summit aims to gather airlines, airports and technology providers around the topic of revenue driven innovation.
Comtrade’s fully automated Adnexa platform stood out in Shanghai, as a comprehensive solution which pairs passenger data with highly relevant advertising content, while staying in compliance with the most stringent privacy regulation. As such, the platform enables airlines to monetise their data and create new revenue from ancillary sources.
Accepting the award in Shanghai, Marko Javornik commented: “Ancillary airline revenues have increased significantly over the last 10 years, to the extent that they are now a necessary source of profit. However, competition remains high in the industry, which means airlines have to be digitally innovative if they are to stand out and capitalise on such opportunities. Adnexa enables them to do this and we are deeply honoured that its capabilities have been recognised in China.”
As a presenter during the first day of the event, Comtrade Digital Services’ Managing Director for Platforms & Products, Christopher Keen, talked in detail about how airlines can monetize their digital passenger data. Following his presentation, he said: “It was a privilege to present our platform at the conference, at a time when digitalisation is gathering such pace within the Chinese aviation market.”
One of the sponsors of the event, Comtrade has identified local partners and opportunities for implementing the Adnexa platform in the fast-paced Chinese market. As more and more airlines seek higher ancillary revenues in their strategic plans, the award is bound to help raise Comtrade’s visibility in the air travel industry even further.
